Reviews Overview

Most Liked

The ambiance at Mackie Mayor consistently receives rave reviews. Diners love the feeling of community as they sit amongst others sharing plates and laughs. The variety of food choices ensures that there's something for everyone, making it ideal for group outings. Standout dishes like the drunken noodles and artisanal pizzas create a buzz with both locals and visitors alike, adding to the excitement of the dining experience.

Another highlight is the availability of artisanal beverages, including unique local beers and craft coffee—perfect for complementing the vibrant food scene. Service is friendly, ensuring that even busy Saturday evenings feel welcoming rather than overwhelming. Overall, the blend of atmosphere, variety, and quality food makes Mackie Mayor a beloved dining destination.

Most Disliked

Some patrons have pointed out long wait times during peak hours, especially for popular dishes like pizza. While the bustling atmosphere adds to the charm, it can sometimes result in a delayed experience. Onbusier evenings, seating can be limited, leading to crowded dining conditions, particularly during Saturday dinner, when the space reaches full capacity.

There are also mentions of occasional price points being on the higher side compared to similar offerings in other parts of Manchester. Though quality often justifies the cost, some diners have expressed that certain items felt particularly pricey, such as the Caesar salad, which could leave some budget-conscious eaters feeling hesitant.

Would give 6 stars to food and atmosphere if I could! Absolutely amazing gorgeous place! Such a great vibe and so inviting to come back again. Food was so amazing, I had the drunken noodles (extra spicy)... I know how to cook Thai food and they nailed it. So many other good things to try... Artisinal beers available too like the Stout cream I tried 😋

Modern food hall in a classic setting. Several vendors from which to choose, but not too many that it’s overwhelming. All the food we ordered was good, especially the jacket potato fries and fish taco. Service was friendly and prompt and the whole place had a nice vibe

A phenomenal space with a wide range of dishes. The dining room is very popular not only with locals but also with foreign tourists. This results in higher prices, which is natural. However, the price for a Caesar salad was extremely excessive.

Mackie Mayor is a hidden gem in Manchester! Housed in a beautifully restored 1858 market hall, it combines stunning Victorian architecture with a buzzing food hall atmosphere. I tried a dirty pink latte from Eagle Street Coffee and loved it—next time I’ll come hungry to explore more of the food stalls.

Splendid, really splendid. I took a vegan green curry and added some Japanese chicken for extra protein, my kids enjoyed the excellent pizza and a great chicken burger and my wife really liked her Thai chicken dish. Only small gripe was how long it took the pizza to arrive. Otherwise fabulous and I’ll be going back. So many more culinary treats to enjoy.

My brother, sister and I spent a great weekend in Manchester and ate at Mackie Mayor on our last night. There is a brilliant variety of food, wine, cheese, beer vendors. All quite reasonably priced. I had ramen which was delicious, my sister had a burger which was really well cooked. It was really busy but we found a table. Food vendors were all very friendly and helpful. The building itself is really attractive too. Great place if you don't know what you want and people want different things.

Good choice of vegan options. Really tasty! Seperate bar area, coffee shop. Lots of options. Large seating area in the middle and more seating upstairs. Attentive waiters clearing up.
